They feel a little older and no longer feel frightened by the mere mention or sight of the house. Jem is now in the 7th grade and Scout is in the 3rd grade. Scout only sees Jem in the evening. She still wishes to see Boo outside his house.Classroom Hypocrisy:In class, they discuss about Adolf Hitler and his wicked persecution of the Jewish people. Miss Gates, the teacher, expresses her hatred to Hitler openly. She tells Scout and the other pupils that Hitler's virtues about democracy and equality are not correct. Scout later asks Jem about Miss Gates discussion. Growing up in Maycomb under the love and care of her single dad makes her learn more about her father and his beliefs especially the reason behind doing the right thing in life. She is not short-tempered and exhibits a rather mature disposition at an early age, and, in short, acts like a tomboy. She is excessively preoccupied with the idea of making her reclusive neighbor Boo Radley come out of the house. She is the younger sister of Jem.Scout Finch Upsets Jem Finch:Scout makes Jem very upset. He is short-fused and yells at her, demanding she stop talking about the trial. To summarize, Scout seeks solace from her father concerning Jem's embarrassing attitude. Atticus tells her that Jem is still adjusting with something that runs inside his head. He will soon come to terms with himself and act like his old self again. This was a short summary of To Kill a Mockingbird, specifically chapter Summary 26; there are 31 chapters in Harper Lee's novel, To Kill a Mockingbird.
